Storm Dylan gave us fantastic light to work with on Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve). The light changed every minute or two. I was heading for the beach but it took a couple of hours to get along the final mile or so of arresting views. Both the castle and the rock have long histories of course, but possibly the rock is the better known these days, especially since Sir David Attenborough declared it his 12th wonder of the natural world - for, not least, it’s 55,000 or so gannets. These are mainly migratory, and are probably currently enjoying African skies and seas.
